Katrina Egner is the President and CEO of SOUND Behavioral Health, one of Washington’s largest community behavioral health care providers. With nearly three decades of experience at SOUND, Katrina leads a team of 700+ clinicians and staff members, working together to deliver mental health, substance use, and culturally informed care to tens of thousands of people each year across King County.
Katrina began her career at SOUND as an intern in 1997 and worked her way through nearly every level of the organization, from crisis services coordinator to mental health specialist and eventually, executive leadership. In 2023, she became CEO, guiding SOUND with a leadership style rooted in optimism, collaboration, and a will to always do ‘the next right thing’.
Under her direction, SOUND has expanded its reach and strengthened its impact by growing access to care, adopting innovative funding and care delivery models, and cultivating community partnerships that bring behavioral health directly to those who need it most. From integrating behavioral health with primary care in underserved communities to expanding crisis response services, Katrina ensures SOUND adapts to meet evolving community needs while remaining true to its mission.
Katrina is deeply engaged in statewide and national advocacy. She serves as a board member of the Washington Council for Behavioral Health and represents Sound’s membership in Fourfront Contributor, a leadership and advocacy coalition of four of the largest community behavioral healthcare agencies in Washington state. She is also a member of the Seattle Chamber of Commerce Community Development Roundtable, working alongside leaders to support equitable community solutions. In recognition of her leadership and community impact, Katrina was named a Puget Sound Business Journal Healthcare Community Champion in 2025.
Known for fostering a strong culture of mentorship, Katrina personally meets with every new hire at SOUND to connect them to the organization’s mission and to help cultivate an environment where leaders support one another as much as they support clients.
A licensed mental health counselor and child mental health specialist, Katrina holds a BA in Psychology from the University of Washington and an MA in Couples and Family Therapy from Antioch University.
