Helena Chow Scamehorn joined Sound Behavioral Health’s Board of Directors in March 2025. Inspired by Sound’s mission to provide equitable behavioral health access to all, Helena brings a personal connection to this cause. Growing up as a first-generation immigrant in an Asian family, she has witnessed and experienced the cultural barriers to accessing mental healthcare. Helena is honored to be part of an organization that champions the advocacy and inclusion of behavioral health for all members of our communities.
Helena is a seasoned finance executive with over 25 years of experience at the Starbucks Coffee Company. Most recently, she served as the Vice President of Business Operations & Strategy for the Office of the CFO. Throughout her career at Starbucks, Helena held numerous senior finance leadership roles, including overseeing US Retail/Store Development, Starbucks Coffee Canada, Global Retail, and Corporate Finance. A proud Husky, Helena graduated from the University of Washington with a bachelor’s degree in accounting and finance.
As a board member of Sound Behavioral Health, Helena brings expertise in strategic financial leadership, cross-functional collaboration, leadership and team management, and change management. Her experience in strategic planning, financial operations, and communications enables her to provide strong oversight of financial health and long-term strategy.
Born in Hong Kong, Helena has lived in the Seattle area for over 30 years. She currently resides in West Seattle with her husband, daughter, and three pug/pug-mix dogs. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, cooking, and spending time with family and friends.
