Dr. Erin Vernon

Dr. Erin Vernon

Dr. Erin Vernon is a health economist and professor at Seattle University. She has led numerous seminars across the country on topics including the economics of the US medical care system, the economics of palliative care, and disparities within healthcare systems. Her work is published in multiple outlets including the Hill, Social Science & Medicine, Age & Ageing, Journal of Public Health Policy, Applied Health Economics and Health Policy, Journal of the American College of Radiology, Gerontology and Geriatric Medicine, Journal of Gerontological Social Work, and Health Education Journal.

She is delighted to join the SOUND Board as the focus on equity and providing behavioral health care to all within the community resonates deeply with her. Erin earned her Ph.D. in economics with specializations in health economics and public finance from the University of Washington and a B.A. with dual majors in finance and computer applications from the University of Notre Dame. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling with her husband and two adult daughters, trail running, and reading.
