This month, SOUND is raising the alarm about recent federal policy changes that threaten essential services like Medicaid and SNAPâlifelines for many of our clients. As we face this uncertainty, we remain grounded in our 60+ year legacy of care, advocacy, and resilience.
As we advocate for change, now is the time to reflect on the challenges we face and the solutions ahead. Through the CCBHC model and PPS financing, we aim to transform behavioral health care. Our clinics are leading this effort in Washington with SAMHSA grants.
As we embark on a new year, now is the time to reflect on the journey behind us and our aspirations for the year ahead. In 2023, our organization navigated change, met new challenges, and strengthened our operational efficiency and care delivery.
Words like âlockdown,â âsocial distancing,â âmask mandates,â and âherd immunityâ became our common language in the aftermath of the pandemic. While these words carried significance to us all, another word emerged as Soundâs truth this past year: âresilience.â Our clients, our team members, and our leadership team were faced with ongoing obstacles and hard realities that truly tested us. And revealed a lot about us, too.
Organizationally, Sound prevailed, thrived even, over the past year. The pandemic thrust us into âtriage mode,â where we quickly responded to the challenges it presented. We did not hesitate to take care of our team members, by extending paid sick leave and administrative pay for team members who had to stay at home to care for loved ones while working, and provided premium pay levels to team members who, due to client need, worked onsite at our locations. We rapidly outfitted each team member, more than 500 professionals with laptops so that team members could work from home when we all went into lockdown.
