With more than 20 years’ experience in communications, Stephen McLean serves as Sound’s Chief Marketing & Public Relations Officer. In that role, he oversees strategies designed to increase awareness, enhance Sound’s reputation and elevate its market position. McLean directs Sound’s marketing communications, media relations, community engagement, corporate communications, business development, and its branding and brand management.
His highlights at Sound include rebranding the organization, overseeing business-to-business and business-to-consumer marketing initiatives, developing strong relationships in the media, and enhancing internal, team member communications. Prior to his role as chief marketing & public relations officer, McLean served as director of communications and as communications manager at Sound.
Prior to Sound, McLean worked at Washington Dental Service, Qualis Health, and Puget Sound Blood Center (now Bloodworks Northwest).
He is a current member of the American Marketing Association and formerly was a member of the Puget Sound Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA).
McLean has an MA in Journalism & Public Relations from the University of Southern California and has a BA in English Literature from the University of Washington.
