Tenth Annual Gala – Celebrating Health Families

May 14, 2015, SMH hosted Mental Health Matters, its annual gala. This year’s event, “Celebrating Healthy Families,” was held at the Meydenbauer Center in downtown Bellevue. Renowned musician, actor and inspirational speaker, Swil Kanim was the keynote speaker and KING-TV’s Margaret Larson was the Mistress of Ceremonies.

Swil Kanim goodSMH has selected critically acclaimed musician, actor and storyteller, Swil Kanim as its keynote speaker.  A member of the Lummi Nation, Mr. Kanim is a powerful advocate of self-expression and overcoming life’s challenges – with an emphasis on youth.  Through his keynote address, “The Healing Power of Honor and Self- Expression,” Mr. Kanim will share his story of personal healing with the audience using music, storytelling, poetry and audience interaction.  We hope you’ll attend this year’s gala celebration!

Mistress of Ceremonies: Margaret Larson

Margaret LarsonSound Mental Health was honored to have Margaret Larson as our Mistress of Ceremonies at this year’s Mental Health Matters gala. This award-winning journalist  hosts KING-TV’s “New Day Northwest,” and has more than 25 years as a foreign correspondent for NBC News, Dateline NBC and as a news anchor for KING-TV. Known locally for her community involvement, Margaret’s engaging personality and fluent story-telling will make the evening one to remember!
