The Older Adult Services Supervisor specializes in working with Geriatric clients.

Essential Functions:

  • Provides clinical supervision to team members and interns.
  • Assists in the hiring process, and trains and supervises clinical team member and interns, under the direction of the Program Manager.
  • Reviews and assure that all required clinical documentation is completed in a thorough and timely manner and per organization standards.
  • Provides clinical services to clients, which include but not limited to:
    • Mental Assessments and evaluations per required level of care.
  • Lethality and risk assessments.
    • Coordinates care with all facets of Sound.
    • Teaches problem-solving, goal-setting, social skills, communication skills and money management; and accessing community resources.
    • Provides counseling, individual treatment services and coordination with family, when indicated.
    • Provides crisis intervention services as necessary.
    • Assists clients to remain stable in the community, thereby reducing the use of hospitals or involuntary treatment services.
    • Inquires about medication regimes and treatment compliance.
  • Monitors utilization of services and the success of outcome measures.
  • Advocates for clients, coordinating and referring for services with other community agencies.
  • Handles client grievances and implement the client grievance procedure on behalf of the client.
  • Provides consultation/education services to other organizations as appropriate.
  • Assists with monitoring program revenues and expenses and ensures compliance with funding requirements such as authorizations, timelines, medical necessity and billing.
  • Attends and participates in management meetings, work groups, organization program audits and accreditation activities as a member of Sound management team.
  • Performs other duties as needed and/or assigned by the Program Manager.

Team Member Supervision:

  • Selects, trains, supervises, and provides ongoing support to assigned new team members.
  • Plans, assigns, and directs work; supervises daily activities of assigned team members as needed.
  • Manages performance, including conducting Catalytic Coaching, providing coaching and recognition, addressing complaints and resolving problems, and taking corrective action as necessary.


  • Ability to demonstrate supervisory and leadership abilities.
  • Ability to demonstrate skills and experiences in working with a wide range of behavioral health disorders
  • Understands recovery concepts in behavioral health; synthesizes and applies, as appropriate to their work at Sound.
  • Ability to demonstrate skills at presenting problems and communicating effectively with collateral organizations having contact with the individual and/or the family
  • Ability to demonstrate skills at early intervention and prevention as well as evidence-based effective treatment.
  • Demonstrates the ability to work well independently, as necessary.
  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge of community mental health systems and resources within King County is highly desirable. Because of the nature of the target population, experience with ethnic/cultural diversity is preferred


  • Master’s degree in social work, psychology, or a counseling-related field (MSW, MS, MA), with a strong emphasis in working with families and community organizations.
  • A minimum of two years of clinical experience as a clinician and demonstrated skills in clinical assessment and treatment
  • Designation as a Geriatric Mental Health Specialist highly preferred.
  • Supervision experience preferred.
  • Mental Health Professional (MHP) designation.
  • Washington State licensure LICSW or LMHC.
  • Must be able to obtain a WA State Agency Affiliated Counselor credential within the first 60 days of hire.
  • Washington State driver’s license and insurable driving record.
