Tell us something about yourself that we’d be surprised to learn.
In addition to being a therapist, I have another passion that takes up quite a lot of my non-working time, and that is dance! I started dancing when I was 6 and haven’t stopped since. When I was in grad school, I branched out from my ballet contemporary background and into learning Latin styles like salsa and bachata. Dance is an important form of self-care in my life.
Do you have any advice for new team members?
I would say to remember that we are not alone in this job, and to never hesitate to reach out to team members with questions, consults about clients, or just general support. Community mental health has a way of presenting new and challenging situations fairly consistently, that at times can be difficult to handle on our own. Accepting support from teammates, as well as being there to support others, is hugely helpful.
What is your favorite thing about working at Sound?
I have two favorite things…the first is that my job here allows me to witness positive change happen for young clients at such a pivotal time in their development. It is absolutely incredible to provide them with the mental health support they need and to experience this change alongside them. Also, I am so grateful for the connections and friendships I have made with my fellow therapists and colleagues while working at Sound. The people I have met here are wonderful, and I always find myself learning new things from them and being inspired!
Thank you for choosing Sound, Carly! We’re so happy to have you on our team!
