Moderated Webinar Focuses on Mental Health in Communities of Color

In honor of Black History Month this past February, Sound Team Members attended a 75-minute webinar titled “Removing Barriers to Mental Health Care.” Featured speakers were Licensed Mental Health Therapists Jennifer Hyppolite and Michael Swann. The program was moderated by Sound’s Diversity & Inclusion Coordinator, Kevin P. Henry. The program focused on removing persistent barriers that prevent BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) individuals from assessing mental health care, which included issues such as racism, economics, and the distrust of the healthcare system in general.
