
Sound is pleased to have Fred Michel, MD, join the Executive Leadership Team as Sound’s Chief Medical Officer. Dr. Michel brings 30 years of community behavioral health leadership experience to Sound. He will direct Sound’s medical professionals including psychiatrists, primary care doctors, ARNPs, physician assistants and other practitioners, to ensure optimal delivery of Sound’s services.
“I’m excited to join the team to oversee Sound’s medical and psychiatric programs and provide guidance on the integration of our clinical, psychiatric and medical care,” Fred Michel, MD, explains. “I’m looking forward to developing strategies to drive the growth of our integrated practice.”
A Washington State native, Dr. Michel received degrees in biology and psychology from Pacific Lutheran University before earning his medical degree at the University of Washington. He completed residency and fellowship training in Denver, Colorado, and holds dual board certifications with the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in Adult Psychiatry and Child & Adolescent Psychiatry.
Following his residency, Dr. Michel served in the US Air Force as a psychiatrist at the Wilford Hall Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas. Spending the past three decades in Colorado he served as Chief Medical Officer at Diversus Health in Colorado Springs; Mental Health Partners in Boulder; and SummitStone Health Partners in Fort Collins.
