New Chief Financial Officer Takes the Helm

Sound welcomed new Vice President & Chief Financial Officer Mike De Luca to its Executive Leadership Team, effective Feb. 28. He is replacing current CFO, Paul Eisenhauer, who will retire on April 29. De Luca will work closely with Eisenhauer during a two-month transition period.

De Luca brings a strong background in Lean business practices to his position. He will look to optimize resources with a focus on processes throughout the organization that bring greater overall value to clients, team members and community partners.

“I am pleased to welcome Mike to our team,” says Patrick Evans, President & CEO. “Having worked closely with him for the past several years, I am confident that his unique background, extensive financial expertise and outstanding leadership qualities will make him an invaluable and immediate asset to our leadership team and the organization.”

De Luca already has considerable familiarity with Sound, having been a business consultant there for the past three years, which should contribute to a smooth transition. Since 2019, De Luca assisted Sound in its Lean implementation, Sound Thinking to support the organization’s transition to a more efficient healthcare organization.

He brings significant healthcare finance, financial consulting, and Lean accounting experience to the role. From 1992 to 2013, De Luca served in finance roles with increasing responsibility at Group Health Cooperative, culminating in the role of Executive Director of Finance, before launching Torre Consulting in 2014. Torre Consulting is a Lean consulting firm with a specialization in finance, accounting and revenue cycle. He is also a lecturer in finance and accounting at the Ohio State University and the Lean Enterprise Institute, specializing in Lean finance and accounting.

De Luca has a Master of Science in Finance from Seattle University; a Master of Arts in Russian and East European Studies from Indiana University; and a Bachelor of Arts in Russian Language, Literature, and Linguistics from the University of Rochester. He is a Fellow of the Healthcare Financial Management Association, from which he also holds the Certified Healthcare Financial Professional designation, and a Certified Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt with the Management Strategy Institute.
