February is Black History Month

Black History Month offers an opportunity to learn from about the nation’s past and its relationship to the present. African Americans from all walks of life and diverse backgrounds played a critical role in shaping this country’s history and, among other accomplishments, laid the foundation for the civil rights movement. Many African Americans also sacrificed their lives to knock down racial barriers, desegregate schools, and ensure voting rights for black Americans.

Throughout the month of February, the Sound DEJI Program (Diversity, Equity, Justice & Inclusion) will feature prominent African Americans in history and present opportunities for further learning through virtual events.

We will kick of the month with videos from Sound Team Members who talk about the importance of celebrating and recognizing Black History Month.

Rachel Martin, from Sound’s People Operations department, shares a few thoughts.
