Sound Proudly Observes Juneteenth, Friday, June 18 With Paid Holiday for Team Members, Participates in Juneteenth Celebration June 19

Intention is to provide a day to reflect and learn, followed by a community celebration on June 19

Sound will observe Juneteenth this Friday, with a day off for team members to reflect and learn. The next day, Sound will host a resource table at the annual It Takes a Village Juneteenth Festival, held from 11 am – 5 pm on Saturday, June 19 at Othello Park, 4351 S. Othello St, Seattle, 98118. The event is free.

Juneteenth celebrates the day the Emancipation Proclamation was officially enforced and is also known as Freedom Day, Jubilee Day, Liberation Day, and Emancipation Day.  Events will be taking place all over the region to recognize the emancipation of Blacks who had been enslaved in the United States. Sound proudly recognizes this holiday and all Sound employees have a paid day off on Friday, June 18.

Sound Team members are encouraged to attend the It Takes a Village event and meet members of the community and representatives from nonprofit organizations. The event will also feature food vendors, musical and spoken word performances, crafts, guest speakers, and information about community resources. In addition, there will be COVID vaccines available along with health enrollment information and dental services.
