I wanted to take this opportunity to reach out to each of you during this unsettling time and let you know of the efforts Sound is undertaking in our community to serve those in need.
During a recent conference call with our team of managers and directors, discussing our clients and our work with them during the COVID-19 health crisis, I was left feeling in awe of the calm, effective and reasoned approach of our leadership and the single-minded focus on carrying out our mission.
This is what Sound does!
As key stakeholders at Sound you would be so proud to learn that the work in our clinics, our housing units, in Emergency Departments, in the courts and on our crisis teams continues with very little disruption while implementing the most rigorous safety measures. We are also able to fill prescriptions for our clients, ensuring that they have the continued daily support they need.
In fact, the work that we are doing now in Emergency Departments is particularly vital to helping move those patients with behavioral and substance use issues out of emergency care and into our crisis services, freeing up valuable space in our medical centers for those needing the most urgent care.
Our clinicians are able to use Telehealth methods to deliver therapy and supportive services via phone and video conferencing, enabling us to not turn clients away. We are also utilizing a crisis triage model to serve our clients and at the same time protect our team members and ensure all are safe. I am so proud to be a part of an organization that plays such a vital role in a community that urgently relies on the care and services that Sound provides.
